GAMBLER

1962 APACHE

APRIL 12, 2016

Apache which was built by the Ames brothers in Port Carling in 1962. The were cabinet builders in the summer and would commission a couple of custom boats during the winter months. As the story was told to me this is one of two Apaches built but this is the only one left. I'm not sure how many boats thy built altogether but 8-9 boat as I've been told, one of which has been in storage for numerous years after sustaining fire damage.

I named the boat Gambler on the wake of my racing career. It is powered by a 502ci Chevy built by Ron Sproul engines with a B&M 250 super charger and dual Holley carbs. Power goes through a Velvet drive transmission into a Casale v drive with 29% gears. Engine runs at 6000 rpm on premium gas.

The boat is vey dependable. It idles for hours in speed restricted areas and jumps to life once you hit the throttle. The hull has been totally refinished along with new upholstery. It sits on on a tandem axle trailer. The price for boat and trailer is $36000 us. I will send a few more pictures showing interior.
